Long-time VolResource subscriber David Wilcox has a blog (weblog) entry ‘Putting a personable face on nonprofits’, reporting from a session on digital society at last week’s NCVO conference.
He suggested that NCVO hosts “a few informal get-togethers for people blogging in and about nonprofits”, and whether this happens or not we would both be pleased to here of any ‘charity bloggers’ via Open Charity Blog. (At the time of writing) I’ve only found two which aren’t just people letting off steam.

English umbrella body NCVO’s annual conference last week saw Minister of Communities and Local Government David Miliband speak on ‘Empowerment not abandonment’ which notes that his first job was with NCVO. “Fair access to funding” is promised for a forthcoming local government white paper, with proposals on ensuring transparency so that weak performers [on funding private and voluntary sectors] are challenged. He calls for ‘double devolution’, where “individuals and neighbourhoods, often through the voluntary sector” are given power over public services.
NCVO also published a survey showing that over 80% of the public believe that local charities are important in representing local opinion, campaigning for a fair society, fundraising and supporting the vulnerable in local communities. There may be more material from the conference on NCVO’s web site.
