Training for both sides of commissioning process

Following the government announcement of a £2 million programme to train public sector service commissioners to understand the voluntary sector better, the voluntary sector spokesman at the Local Government Association is suggesting that charities also need to be taught about local authorities and other public bodies and the regulatory and democratic frameworks in which they work. Charities unaware of these may not come up with appropriate solutions to public sector needs.
