Improving design of streets
10th May 2007, 2:34 pm
A new ‘Manual for Streets’ design guide from the government has been broadly welcomed by community and environmental groups, for example Living Streets sees it as backing their case that streets should be designed as social places, as well as to meet their traffic function - http://www.livingstreets.org.uk/news_and_info/news.php?id=729.
Any groups, in England and Wales at least, tackling improving the urban environment should find it useful. The guide is a rather large 5.39MB pdf at http://www.communities.gov.uk/pub/205/ManualforStreets_id1509205.pdf.
