Third sector as community connectors

The Development Trusts Association have responded to the consultation by Department of Communities and Local Government on “effective third sector participation in Local Strategic Partnerships” strongly objecting to the use of term ‘representation’ to describe the role of community groups etc. Instead, the sector should be seen to “contribute to participative not representative democracy, and perhaps …… the term ‘connector’ is more honest and useful.”
